Graveyard Pudding

Do you feel it in the air?  The crisp breeze, the chilly nights, the misty mornings... it's spooky, it's scary... it's Halloween!! Well almost.  I love, love, love Halloween.  Everything from the bags of tricks and treats to the specials on TV is awesome.  Ever since I was a kid I loved decorating for this holiday.  Food is no exception.  So here is one of my favorite Halloween party treats.  It's fun and easy and looks awesome when completed.  Great project for the afternoon to eat after pumpkin carving later that night!

In order to get the pictures up before Halloween I have to make the pudding pretty early this year.  While it was delicious it was not quite the same without the eerie light from a jack-o-lantern and the spooky Halloween specials on TV.  I guess, perhaps, I'll have to make it again!  I can't imagine Nick will mind extra pudding around the apartment :)

Anyone else super in love with Halloween?  I would love to see your favorite recipes, TV specials, or decorations.  Feel free to leave them in the comments section!

Spooky Pudding Recipe

Ingredients
2 small packages pudding mix (3.9 oz) prepared according to directions on package
**I used one vanilla and one chocolate
10 Oreo cookies
4 Vanilla Sandwich cookies (I usually use Vienna Fingers but Milanos or Snackwells are great subs)
1 can whipped cream or whipped topping (or ghost shaped peeps)
Chocolate Jimmy Sprinkles
Pumpkin shaped candies
3 tubes frosting (black, white, and green)

Directions
1) Prepare pudding according to instructions on package.  Chill.  Layer the pudding into an 8x8 (or equivalent) baking dish.

2) Place Oreo cookies into a food processor and pulse until a fine powder.  No food processor?  Place the cookies in a zip-lock bag and roll over them with a rolling pin until well crushed.

3) Decorate!  Use the whipped cream canister to shape ghosts and place the chocolate sprinkles on them for scary eyes.  Place pumpkins all around.  Write messages on the vanilla cookies and insert into pudding as graves.  Use green frosting to make vines and grass.  Use white frosting to draw skeletons   Not great at frosting?  Try spiderwebs instead - easier and still very spooky!
